The All Progressives Congress (APC) in
Bayelsa State has kicked against the cancellation of the
governorship election results from the Southern Ijaw Local
Government of the state, reports The Herald.
The party described the decision of the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the
election as a ploy to manipulate the result in favour of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).Denis Otiotio, the party’s agent at the state collation
centre, who spoke on behalf of the party, said the party
was on course to win the election before the cancellation
of the results from the Southern Ijaw Local Government.
Before the cancellation, the incumbent governor and
candidate of the PDP, Seriake Dickson was leading his
main opponent in the election and candidate of the APC
Timipre Sylva
In the results, so far released by INEC, Dickson has won in
six local government areas while Sylva had only won in
one.
