EFCC arraigns pastor for N22.4M fraud, as court jails another
fraudster for 7 years
The EFCC, has arraigned Pastor Nimi West (pictured right)
and his company, Nimak & Company Nigeria Limited before
Justice U.N. Agumoh of the Federal High Court Port Harcourt,
Rivers State on a four- count charge of obtaining money
under false pretence to the tune of N22.4m.
West is alleged to have received the said amount from one
Emmanuel Dike at different times in 2013 for payment of a
bungalow. However, the complainant later discovered that the
property had been sold to another person while his efforts to
recover his money did not succeed.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when read to
him and was granted bail in the sum of N1m and two sureties
in like sum. .
Also, Justice Agumoh convicted and sentenced one Chief
Felix Amadi to 7 years imprisonment on a one-count charge
bordering on obtaining money under false pretence brought
against him by EFCC.
The convict was first arraigned on March 31, 2014 and he
pleaded not guilty and the matter went into full trial. He was
specifically tried for offering a plot of land for sale without
granting the buyer possession of the land. .
He sold the landed property for a sum of N17.6m. Although in
the course of his trial, he restituted the entire sum to the buyer
of the land, nonetheless, Justice Agumoh still found him guilty
of the charge preferred against him and sentenced him to 7
years imprisonment without an option of fine.
