England boss Gareth Southgate, Ian Wright, Pat Jennings, Ron Atkinson and Andy Townsend and, others were at the funeral of the former England and Aston Villa defender, Ugo Ehiogu'funeral.
He received medical treatment on site before being transferred to hospital by
ambulance but doctors were unable to save the 44-year-old.
Ehiogu, who was working for Tottenham at the time of his death, was
laid to rest at St Michael's church Highgate, north London.
He leaves behind him his wife, Gemma, and their two children.
A fundraising page set up by Ehiogu's wife, meanwhile, has raised more
than £20,000.
His family set up the page to raise money to help give disadvantaged
children equal opportunities in football, a cause Ehiogu had been passionate
about during his lifetime.
Explaining the decision to set up the page, Gemma Ehiogu worte: "Ugo's
dream was to set up a charity that gives every child equal opportunity to
access and play football. He had already put the wheels in motion.
"This fund will make his dream become a r
eality. We don't have a set
target every donation will help. Thank you, In memory of Ugo Ehiogu."
In the weeks that have followed, £23,772 has been raised by more than
400 donors.
Middlesbrough, Arsenal and Rangers are among the football clubs to have
donated. A message left by Boro on the JustGiving page read: "Ugo Ehiogu.
One of our heroes. You will never be forgotten by Middlesbrough Football
Club or the people of Teesside."
