The aggrieved students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology
( LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State on Monday, shut the
school gates to prevent UTME candidates from writing their
examination scheduled for Monday morning.
The gates were reportedly locked by 5am after the student leaders had a
meeting insisting that government must fight the crisis in the institution
before admitting new students.
The demands include a comprehensive academic calendar, as many
complained of having 3sets of 100 level students, including 200 level.
The students also charged the school authorities to fix an appropriate time
for commencement of lectures and meet all necessary demands or risk a
total lockdown of the institution.
The student leaders hope the protest will convince the federal government
to intercede in the ongoing crisis in the institution.
