Delta State Government is set to commence the
Home Grown School Feeding Programme, HGSFP,
for primary school pupils in the state in January
2017.
The programme is aimed at the feeding of
primary school pupils between primaries one
and three at the rate of N70 per child for 200
school days per annum.
Speaking at a two-day stakeholders workshop
organized in collaboration with the Office of the
Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in Asaba, the
state Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, expressed
satisfaction with the framework of the
programme which has recorded successes in
Kaduna, Kano and Enugu states.
Represented by the state Commissioner for
Economic Planning, Mr. Kinglesy Emu, Okowa
stressed the need for Nigerians to stop
undermining the value of home grown products
to encourage their productivity.
He noted that
the programme was keyed into the job creation
agenda of the state government.
